April 5th – WEDNESDAY: General Meeting
Program: Growing Roses in the Mountains with Laurel Owens
Laurel is an expert in the care of roses. She will discuss pruning and many other tips you will need to grow roses successfully
May 4th – WEDNESDAY: General Meeting
Program: Steve Perez, Park Ranger at the Nature Center, will give an informative talk about their upcoming Wildflower Show, as well as discussing the Lemon Lily event the the Nature Center is co-hosting this year
June 1st – WEDNESDAY General Meeting
Program: Riverside County Master Gardener, Eben Longfellow will present “Soil, Amendments and Nutrients”. Information on how to grow plants in our mountain soil.
July 4th – MONDAY: 4th of July parade.
We will meet with other marchers on Pinecrest near Fern Valley Corner to join the parade and strut our stuff!
July 6th–WEDNESDAY- PICNIC IN THE PARK
Outdoors at the Nature Center Arrive about 12 noon, lunch at 12:30 -Bring a dish to share before 12:30 pm so all may enjoy! (No BBQ’s available). There are picnic tables, some also bring camping chairs. The club provides plastic plates & utensils, iced tea and water. You may like to bring other beverages.
. Program: Garden Ideas on a Budget by Elizabeth Butterfield. Elizabeth is a very accomplished gardener, artist and floral arranger. She will offer some creative solutions to making your garden unique
August 3rd– WEDNESDAY General Meeting
Presentation of the Slate of Elected Officers:
Program: IGC President, Julie Roy will lead a panel discussion on Indoor Plants. San Diego’s Plant Lady was a title given to Julie in her mid-twenties. She hosted a weekly TV show on the CBS affiliate for 3 years , helping people keep their houseplants thriving. (Sun-Up San Diego) and PM Magazine) She’ll share her handy tips with us.
Field Trip: The California Botanical Gardens in Claremont is home to the largest botanic garden dedicated exclusively to native plants, with displays of natives from Oregon to the Mexican border. (Date to be announced)
September 7th – WEDNESDAY – General Meeting
Election of Slate of Officers:
Program: Bob Greenamyer heads up the Community Garden & Community Center, which provide our community the tools and knowledge for cultivating edible gardens in our mountain community. He will give us an update on the Community Garden during his presentation.
October 6th– WEDNESDAY – General Meeting
Installation of Elected Officers and Introduction of Board
Program: Mary Rider, President of the Friends of the San Jacinto Mountain Parks, and secretary of the Idyllwild Garden Club, will lead us on a fun tour of our pine forest at the Nature Center.
